Chapter Philanthropy

It is estimated that nearly 1 in 4 children grow up without learning basic reading skills. Without achieving this level of reading proficiency, these children will neither be able to benefit nor contribute to their communities. However, there are solutions.

We are proud to call Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) our national philanthropic partner. RIF strives to encourage and provide the opportunities for young students to get their hands on books. Our chapter holds various events to donate to this incredible program. In addition, every Friday members from our chapter attend a local elementary school and have the privilege to read to the students. It is here where we get to directly interact and help motivate the kids.

In addition to RIF, every year our chapter participates in Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a 24 hour event to raise money for cancer research. This year our team raised a total of $100,459 making us the number one fundraising team at the University of Michigan. In the spring time we hold our annual Kappa Lemonade Stand. Here we raise money to donate to the Kappa Foundation.
